BATH
Maine’s First Ship will hold a number of events throughout the Heritage Days celebration, beginning Saturday evening with a fireworks party at the Bath Freight Shed.
The evening includes a cash bar by JR Maxwell’s, tours of the structure of a replica of the 1608 pinnace Virginia, assembled in 2011 inside the boat shed and information about the plans for construction of the Virginia this year and summer educational shipbuilding programs.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for priority seating and at 8 p.m. for non-members.
Cost is $10 for adults and $25 per family, with all entry fees matched by the Jane Stevens Challenge. Proceeds will be used to purchase wood for the Virginia.
Limited seating is available, so attendees are encouraged to bring a chair.
On Sunday, tours of the Virginia’s structure will be held from 2 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., and a mast for the ship, to be used in the Summer Shipbuilding Program with students from Regional School Unit 1, will be delivered.
