BATH — Roll & Go, a Maine group of men and women who have sung “sea shanties” and other songs of the sea together for more than two decades, will stage a concert at 7:30 p.m. July 14 at the Winter Street Center, 880 Washington St.

The group has been featured at the Mystic Sea Music Festival, the Great Schooner Race in Penobscot Bay, the Maine Festival, the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, the Portsmouth Maritime Festival, the Pilgrim Museum and Monument in Provincetown, as well as many tallship special events and community concerts. The shanties are sung unaccompanied, combining solo work with tight harmonies on the refrain and chorus.

Ballads are generally backed up by banjo, guitar, concertina, washtub bass or penny whistle.

The concert is scheduled to coincide with a visit by the tall ship Gazlela to the Maine Maritime Museum.

Roll & Go has released three compact discs: “Outward Bound” in 2002, “Rolling Down to Sailortown” in 2006 and “Look Out!” in 2010.

Admission is $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Children younger than 12 will be admitted for half price. For more information or reservations call 737-2187.
