ROCKLAND — Evelyn F. Edgecomb, 89 of Liberty, died July 7, 2012 at Knox Center in Rockland.
She was born on August 20, 1922, the daughter of Roy and Ardelle (Harriman) Oxton. Evelyn was a homemaker and a nurse at Seton Hospital in Waterville. She was also a lifetime member of Eastern Star in Liberty. She also enjoyed working outside her home and talking with friends. She always dreamed of a helicopter ride. That dream came true after winning a contest. It was the highlight of her life.
Evelyn is predeceased by her parents; husband Richard F. Edgecomb; son Dane; brothers, A. Burleigh and Robert Oxton; sister Dorothy Hynes.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy Ross and husband Jim of Dresden, grandson Dane Edgecomb and wife Joyce of Appleton; granddaughters Lisa Light of Belmont and Beth Mitchell of Appleton; six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and close friends.
A graveside service will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday July 16th at Pine Grove Cemetery in Searsmont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PALS, No Kill Cat Shelter, 188 Case Road, Winthrop, ME 04364. Arrangements under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast.
