WELLS — The Wells-Ogunquit CSD School Committee has unanimously approved plans to partially renovate sections of Wells High School and construct a new classroom building.

The decision effectively ends a more than three-month dialogue between district officials and residents who considered several expansion options, including a proposal to build an entirely new high school.

In the end, it was decided to renovate existing spaces at the high school, including Ronco Gymnasium, Olenn Auditorium, the cafeteria and library area.

A 15-member Wells High School building committee is now being formed to work directly with district school committee and administration members to select an architect, review information on the project, make recommendations and help keep the public informed as the project progresses.
