BATH — A four-team Babe Ruth Baseball 13-Year-Old Qualifying Tournament was held at Varnum Field with the top two teams gaining state playoff berths.
In Game 1 Noble nipped Coastal North (Topsham, Lisbon), 6-4, scoring four runs in the fifth inning to wipe out a 4-2 deficit.
Noble’s Zach Bajaii hurled five innings with five strikeouts and a walk, and Cory Jones worked two innings with two strikeouts and three walks. Jones doubled and scored the go-ahead run in the fifth inning.
Coastal North’s Shane Pennell went five innings with two strikeouts and three walks, and Riley Austin had a strikeout and walk in his oneinning stint.
Elliot Bowie had two singles for Coastal, while Kevin Giroux, Alex Miranda and Pennell chipped in with a single each.

In the second game Coastal South (Bath, Brunswick) nipped Southern York 3-2.
Coastal South score the goahead run in the top of the sixth.
Ricky Warren pitched seven stellar innings, shutting down a strong York offense. Warren struck out five, while allowing four walks and three hits.
Three York pitchers combined on four strikeouts and six walks.
York standout Sam Johnson had a single, double and RBI, while Guy Hanks doubled in the tying run in the fifth.
Zach Larrabee lead off the game with a walk, and aggressive base running led to Coastal South’s first run.
Warren doubled home Larrabee with the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth.
Warren wound up with a single and double, while Larrabee scored two runs, and Joey Dougherty and Taylor Shaw each singled.

In the third game, Noble scored three runs each in the first and fifth innings to blank Coastal South.
Jones (seven strikeouts, four walks) and Bajaii (four strikeouts, walk) combined on a no-hitter.
Bajaii tripled and scored once, and Jones, Heath and Cosgrove singled for Noble’s offense.
Alex Ewing pitched five innings of solid relief for CS.
Local teams ousted
Southern York also ousted Coastal North 25-0 and eliminated Coastal South 15-5.
In the second game, York scored seven runs in the third inning, and York pitchers had eight strikeouts, three walks and two hits allowed.
York’s Malcolm Hughes had a single and two doubles, while Brayton Chayer and Sam Desmarais each doubled, and Johnson and Hanks each tripled.
Coastal South’s Matt Belanger doubled and Stephen Scheibner singled.
