Betty was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and she was an active volunteer at church events. She also volunteered at the local soup kitchen and food bank. Betty enjoyed playing cribbage, reading, sight seeing and following the Red Sox and especially the Celtics. She was an active member and volunteer of the Bath Senior Citizens. Above all else it was Betty’s love of family that mattered most to her. She was the quintessential mother who was the glue who held her family together. She was deeply loved by her children and grandchildren and will be dearly missed.
Betty is survived by her four sons, Michael and his wife Laurel of Las Vegas, NV, Benjamin, Jr. “Chip” and his wife Jane of Phippsburg, Joseph and his wife SueAnn of TN, and Frank “Hank” of Bath; grandchildren, Ashlee, Mason, Samantha and Justin; brother, Charles Dingley and beloved wife Fay of TX; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by parents; husband; sister, Lorna Hart; and brother, Frank Dingley, Jr.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
