This postcard from the Pejepscot Historical Society’s collection shows the Harpswell Common Burying Ground, which dates to 1758, the year the town was incorporated. Among those buried in the cemetery are Harpswell’s first settled minister, the Rev. Elisha Eaton, who reportedly died from “cancer in his lip.” Dave Hackett will lead a Pejepscot Historical Society walking tour of the ground for taphophiliacs (cemetery enthusiasts) and others on Sunday. Tour participants should meet at 1 p.m. at the Joshua L. Chamberlain Museum, 226 Maine St., Brunswick, where admissions will be collected. Visitors are asked to car pool from Brunswick to the tour site. Admission is $2 in advance of $4 on the day of the tour. Participation is free for Pejepscot Historical Society members. Call 729-6606 to register. Visit www.pejepscothistorical.org to view the society’s full summer walking tour schedule.
