PORTLAND — Maine Medical Center’s Let’s Go! program is partnering with the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands to provide free Maine State Park Passes for children.

Nearly 100 physician practices are participating in the program, which provides a free day pass to any child who comes in for an office visit. The pass is good at any of Maine’s 48 state parks and historic sites, with the exception of Baxter State Park. Passes are valid through December 2012.

Local practices participating in the Let’s Go! program include Martin’s Point Health Care, Mid Coast Medical Group Pediatrics, Bowdoin Medical Group, Northern Sun Family Healthcare, Richmond Area Health Center and Royal River Family Care in Yarmouth.

A nationally recognized childhood obesity prevention program, Let’s Go! strives to increase physical activity and healthy eating for children.

“There’s no better place to be active than the Maine outdoors,” said Dr. Victoria Rogers, Let’s Go! program director. “We hope this program encourages kids and families to explore the incredible resources we have in the state.”
