PORTLAND — Rehabbing Red Sox reliever Andrew Bailey looked good in his one inning of work Sunday as the Portland Sea Dogs routed the Erie SeaWolves 11-2 at Hadlock Field.

Bailey entered the game in the seventh inning and allowed one run on three singles while striking out two. He threw 23 pitches, 16 for strikes. His fastball topped out at 94 mph.

“Everything went good today,” said Bailey, who had been out all year with a thumb injury after the Red Sox acquired him in a trade from Oakland. “I felt strong and felt healthy. So I’ll head back and catch up with the guys in Boston tomorrow. It’s all about going forward.”

The Sea Dogs rapped 17 hits, led by Bryce Brentz, who drove in five runs with a home run, single and double.

Portland starter Steven Wright, a knuckleballer making his debut for the organization, allowed five hits and one run in six innings.

Portland gave Wright an early cushion, scoring five runs in the second inning, two on a double by catcher Matt Spring.

“That certainly helps you relax,” said Wright. “You can try new things, change speeds, concentrate on just executing your pitches.”

The win completed a three-game sweep of the SeaWolves, Portland’s first over Erie in two years.
