The weather was decidedly summerlike, but there was more than a hint of fall found at high schools across the state.

The fall high school sports season began Monday for football, field hockey, soccer, cross country, golf and volleyball teams, with questions everywhere. What teams will rise to the top? What players will shine in the spotlight?

The answers won’t be learned until the cool days and nights of October and November, when state championship meets and games take place. Until then, enjoy the games.
