The third annual Paul Brogan alumni cross country race will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at Wainwright Fields off Highland Avenue in South Portland. Due to the high school renovation project, the race was relocated to Wainwright this year and will be a 2.2-mile course around the fields. Former South Portland cross country runners are welcome, alumni league runners, family members and all South Portland alums. Come on out for a fun run and a chance to catch up with old friends. The Mid Coast chapter of the American Red Cross will host its fourth annual benefit golf tournament Aug. 27 at Highland Green Golf Club in Topsham. Advance registration is requested. The cost is $200 per foursome, and includes nine holes of golf, a cart, luncheon, awards and team photos. To register, call 729-6779.
