Police on Thursday arrested a husband and wife following a family fight, allegedly involving a knife.

Rhonda B. Churchill, 48, faces a charge of aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing her husband, William W. Churchill, in the thigh. William Churchill, 47, was arrested later on a probation hold and summonsed on a charge of assaulting his wife’s 24-year-old son.

Police had responded to a domestic fight call at a Pleasant Street apartment building. Officers entered the apartment and found William Churchill with small stab wounds to his left thigh and a cut on his right hand, they said.

At the scene police learned that Churchill was involved in a dispute with his wife and her son. The dispute became physical and at one point William Churchill was stabbed by Rhonda Churchill in the thigh, police said. It appeared from the initial investigation that William Churchill’s hand was cut when he attempted to grab the knife from his wife.

The charge against Rhonda Churchill is a Class B crime and she was later released on $15,000 unsecured bail. Her West Bath District Court date is scheduled for Sept. 11.

William Churchill was transported to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick by Bath Rescue. His injuries are not considered life-threatening and he was released a short time later from the hospital.

At 6:40 p.m., Bath police arrested William Churchill following his release from the hospital. He was arrested on a probation hold and summonsed for assaulting his wife’s 24-year-old son. No bail was set on the hold order, so Churchill was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.
