AUGUSTA (AP) — Gov. Paul LePage has nominated two fresh faces — including his chief legal counsel — to serve as district court judges. He’s also nominating nine sitting judges for new terms.

Daniel Billings previously served as a partner at Marden, Dubord, Bernier, and Stevens in Waterville before becoming the governor’s chief legal adviser. The other new nominee is John Lucy, a partner at Richardson, Whitman, Large & Badger in Bangor.

All nominations require Senate approval.

Nominations for new terms announced Monday are Supreme Court justices Donald Alexander and Warren Silver; Superior Court justices Jeffrey Hjelm, Thomas Humphrey, Thomas Warren and Joyce Wheeler; and District Court judges Keith Powers and Kevin Stitham. Also up for another term is Carl Bradford, an active retired Superior Court justice.
