• The Central Maine chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society will host a Conservation and Sportsmen’s Banquet on Sept. 21, at 6 p.m. at Penobscot County Conservation Alliance in Brewer. Individual membership and dinner tickets are $55, with an optional family membership package for $100. The event will feature a live and silent auction, games, drawings and door prizes. • The Maine Red Claws will hold invitation-only tryouts on Sept. 22, at the Celtics’ Healthpoint practice facility in Waltham, Mass. • Southern Maine SportsZone will host a Maine Hoops Fall League starting Oct. 6. The league will run every weekend through Nov. 4. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 10 games.
