The Regional School Unit 5 middle school athletics program has released the following information for the upcoming season.

Students interested in participating on a fall athletic team should come to the first scheduled practice prepared to fully participate. This includes appropriate practice wear/gear and a signed athletic contract and physical form.

Durham Community School (Cross country for grades 5-8, soccer for grades 6-8): Practices begin on Wednesday, Sept. 5. Practices will be from 3:30-5 p.m. Durham seventh- and eight-grade students can also participate on the Freeport Middle School football and field hockey teams. Transportation is provided to FMS for practices and games.

Freeport Middle School: Practices will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Anticipated practice times are 2:30-4 p.m. for soccer and cross country, and 3:45-5:15 p.m. for field hockey (with study hall 2:20-3:20 p.m.)

FMS football practice began Aug. 20. All football practices are held at Pownal Road Field. Football, although a school sponsored activity, works with the Freeport Gridiron Club for the registration process. If you have not already registered and are interested in playing football contact Kim Burke ([email protected]). Once school starts, there will be a bus available to transport students to the Pownal Road Field after school each day.
