BATH — Local youth artists who participate in ArtVan programming will have artwork on display at Midcoast Center for Higher Education Gallery at 9 Park St. The show titled, “Art- Van Youth: Summer Buzz” opens Wednesday and will be up until Sept. 30.

A reception will be held in the gallery on Sept. 21 from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. as part of Bath’s Third Friday Artwalk. All artwork is for sale with 10 percent of proceeds to benefit programming; the remaining 90 percent goes directly to the youth artists.

ArtVan is a mobile arts therapy program that provides programming to children, teens, and adults who have the least amount of social services, after school and summer activities available to them. Started in 2004 by founder and art therapist Jamie Silvestri, the nonprofit believes in art as a way to safely communicate thoughts, feelings and ideas. Serving areas including Bath, Brunswick, Lewiston, Auburn and Biddeford, ArtVan brings supplies and relevant projects directly to clients.
