Following a traffic stop on Old Bath Road around noon Tuesday, police arrested a 26- year-old Brunswick man in connection with the robbery of the GameStop at Merrymeeting Plaza on Nov. 11, 2011.

Arrested and charged with Class A robbery stemming from the investigation that has continued since the Nov. 11 incident was Janra Rodriguez Baltazar, 26, of 12 C St., according to a press release issued Tuesday by Detective Sgt. Martin Rinaldi of the Brunswick Police Department.

Police say on Nov. 11, 2011, “an unknown male robbed the lone clerk (store manager) at the GameStop in Brunswick as the business was being closed for the evening. The robbery occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. The lone perpetrator displayed a firearm during the robbery and took over $2,000 in cash from the safe and cash drawer.”

Baltazar is not believed to be the person that displayed the firearm during the robbery, “but is believed to be directly involved in the crime,” the release states. “There was security camera footage of the event and a still frame image of the perpetrator was produced from the footage.”

A search warrant was executed on Baltazar’s residence and police say undisclosed evidence was collected during the search of the premises.

Following his arrest Tuesday, Baltazar was transported to the Brunswick Police Department where he was processed, and transported to the Cumberland County Jail in Portland. Bail was set at $5,000 cash and Baltazar was given a Cumberland County Superior Court date of Nov. 20.

Deputy Chief Marc Hagan said this morning additional arrests are pending.
