SOUTH PARIS — The Mt. Ararat High School boys soccer team finally began its Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference slate on Tuesday, getting two goals in the first 1:21 en route to a 7-0 victory over Oxford Hills.

After having their opener postponed on Friday at Lewiston (the makeup is tonight at 6 p.m.), the Eagles rolled to a 3-0 halftime lead.

“We scored at 39:04, and again at 38:39, so the kids were pumped up to get the season going,” said Mt. Ararat (1-0) coach Rick Renaud.

Nate Santeramo had three goals and two assists, while Will Hirnak tallied two goals and handed out four helpers. Griffin Stockford and Chris Pepin chipped in a goal each, with Brian Johnson credited with an assist.

In goal, Gabe Pelletier (three saves) and Jon Roux (one save) combined on the shutout.

BRUNSWICK 4

BRUNSWICK — Konnor Scarponi and Blake Gordon each tallied two goals as the host Dragons rolled past Erskine Academy in KVAC action.

Scarponi, Ryan Black and Ian Burgess added one assist each for the 2-0 Dragons, who visit rival Mt. Ararat on Friday (5:30 p.m.).

Greg Walton picked up his second straight shutout, turning aside five Erskine (1-1) shots.

Erskine goaltender Jared Gartley had 12 saves.

The host Wolverines, scheduled to visit Mountain Valley on Saturday at 1 p.m., improved to 2-0 with a Mountain Valley Conference win over the 0-2 Roadrunners.

Dale Peaslee converted a pass from JD Souza to give Wiscasset a 1-0 lead at the half.

Zach Ellison made it 2-0, and Peaslee’s second put the game away. Souza finished with three assists, with goaltender Nat Mills turning aside six shots.

Jay Chenard scored the lone goal for the visitors, while Tristen Dyar recorded nine saves.
