FREEPORT — Olivia Bubar scored two first-half goals as the Freeport High School field hockey team rolled to a 5-0 Western Maine Conference win over Old Orchard Beach on Saturday.

Bubar scored unassisted with 15:58 remaining in the opening frame, and doubled the Freeport (3-1) lead four minutes later. Sydney Ambrose gave the Falcons a 3- 0 edge at the half.

In the second half, Freeport, which hosts Poland on Tuesday at 4 p.m., received a goal each from Dayze Gaulin (assisted by Bubar) and Ambrose (unassisted) to complete the scoring and the Falcons’ third consecutive victory.

Tallie Martin had seven saves in the win, while Old Orchard Beach (0-4) goaltender Colleen Dyer turned aside 16 Freeport shots.

Megan Peacock and Abby Smith led the Freeport offense and defense in the midfield, and Lorin Martens and Reiley Parker paced Freeport’s defense inside the defensive circle.

SACOPEE VALLEY 1

On Friday, host Freeport (2- 1) rolled to a WMC victory at Hiram.

Bubar scored two unassisted goals in the first half. Her second goal was a one-on-one against the Hawks’ goaltender with nine minutes left in the second half.

Korissa Lavers gave the Falcons a 3-0 lead with three minutes left, with Hannah Williams picking up an assist.

Sacopee Valley (1-2) prevented the shutout, getting a Lynn Herbert goal with two minutes remaining to complete the scoring.

Martin totaled 15 saves, and Chloe Boncoe had seven stops for Sacopee.

On Friday in Mountain Valley

Conference play, Lisbon improved to 4-0 as Hannah Jordan scored two first-half goals and assisted on a third.

Arianna Kahler chipped in with a goal, and Bailey Cutler added two assists.

The Greyhounds, scheduled to visit Hall-Dale today, piled up 30 shots and 10 penalty corners, while goaltender Stevie Charest came away with 10 saves.

Nicole Burgess scored for the hosts on an assist from Alexa Fryover, while goaltender Vanessa Swett made eight saves.
