Pownal Elementary School holding ?lobster bake

The Pownal Elementary School Parent/Teacher Organization will be hosting its annual lobster bake in front of the school on Saturday, Sept. 15.

The traditional lobster bake is one of the most popular fundraisers offered by the PTO throughout the year, with food and games for children organized on the lawn.

This event is hosted by IMPACT, the Pownal Elementary School parent/teacher organization whose purpose is to promote educational opportunities for Pownal School children.

Serving will begin at approximately 1 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and include one lobster, clams, corn on the cob, potatoes, salad and blueberry cake. Children eat free with no lobster.

Tickets are on sale at Short Stop, Edna and Lucy’s and Pownal Elementary School. Advance purchase is appreciated, but not required.

Pownal Congregational Church bean supper

On Saturday, Sept. 15, the Pownal Congregational Church will be hosting a bean supper. There are seatings at 5 p.m. and at 6 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3.50 for children 5-12 and children under 5 eat free. For reservations, call Lois Saunders at 688-4433.

Town office to close ?for election training

Pownal’s town office, located in Mallett Hall, will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 26 and Thursday, Sept. 27 for staff election training. The office is normally closed on Fridays, so it will reopen on Monday, Oct. 1.

Regular town office hours are Mondays from 8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Tuesdays through Thursdays from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. For more information, call 688-4611.

Pownal selectmen, Planning Board to meet

The Pownal Board of Selectmen will be meeting Monday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at Mallet Hall. The Pownal Planning Board will hold its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m., and then the board will hold a workshop as part of its ongoing review of the updated zoning ordinance draft on Sept. 25 from 8-9 a.m. at Mallet Hall. The Planning Board will also be holding an onsite inspection of a proposed single-lot division by the Grindle Family Partnership at their property on Tuttle Road on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 8 a.m.. The site walk is open to the public.

Food pantry open ?on Tuesdays

The North Pownal United Methodist Church on Lawrence Road has new hours for distributing food from its pantry. It is now open every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m.- noon. Volunteers never know from week to week what will be available, but the pantry usually gets different kinds of breads, produce, desserts, etc. All are welcome.

Congregational ?Church news
