Eight candidates for local office have turned in nomination papers for November’s general and local elections.
One race is contested and one open seat has no interest, according to Town Clerk Tracey Stevens.
Incumbent town council chairman James Cassida, of 5 Timber Ridge Road, seeks reelection to his District 4 seat and will be contested by Andrew Wellin, of 83 Hunter Road.
Melanie Sachs, of 84 Kelsey Ridge Road, is running unopposed for the council’s single open At-large seat.
Regional School Unit 5’s board of directors has two open seats. John Morang, of 15 Murch Road, and Karin Van Nostrand, of 31 Heron Pond Lane, each are running unopposed.
Three open Sewer District trustee seats exist, with three candidates uncontested to fill them: Darrel Fournier, of 3 Fournier Drive; Leland Arris III, of 22 Circle Drive; and Clinton Goodenow Jr., of 85 Carter Road.
There are no candidates for the single open Water District seat.
