TOPSHAM — Ziggurat Theatre Ensemble will offer two theatre classes this fall — one in physical theatre and one in ensemble theatre. All classes will take place at Elizabeth Drucker’s Ballet Studio, 799 Middlesex Road.

In a news release, instructor Dana Wieluns Legawiec describes the physical theatre class as a “fun, energetic class that uses games and exercises to help students tap into their boundless creative energies.”

Students will work together while developing their individual talents in movement, comedy and character, exploring the ancient forms of mask and clowning to create original characters without the use of language, the news release continues. They will learn how to improvise, cultivating physical awareness and confidence while discovering joy in performance.

The final class will culminate in an open studio for friends and family to watch the young artists at work. This eight-week class is for grades 6 to 8 and meets on Saturdays from 12:30 to 2 p.m. starting Sept. 29. The cost is $100.

The ensemble theater class is about making a performance where actors are performers, story creators and directors. Classes will focus on bringing out what is unique in each student, while integrating each into an artistic ensemble.

Instructor Stephen Legawiec said in a news release, “While there will be attention on basic acting skills, this class will go beyond that. Through special character and story-creating techniques, students will make a play using their bodies and imaginations. Exploring magical stories from the world’s mythic lore, this course will culminate in a full performance.”

This eight-week class is for grades 9 to 12 and meets on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting on Sept. 30. The cost is $125.
