NEW FACES
• Debora King was hired as executive director of the Brunswick Downtown Association. King lives in Brunswick and previously served as executive director of the Greater Freeport Chamber of Commerce. She is replacing the recently retired Stephanie Slocum.
• Joshua Clark and Richard Stevenson joined BerryDunn.
Clark is a consultant in the firm’s management information technology group. He will earn his MBA with a focus on consulting from Central Michigan University in December.
Stevenson was hired as a senior proposal writer in the management information technology group. Stevenson was previously employed by Measured Progress Inc. of Dover, N.H.
• Heather Shields joined Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty as a vice president. Shields of Yarmouth worked in real estate in Camden for over five years.
• Diana Ichton Nelson was named senior account executive at Kemp Goldberg Partners. Nelson has an extensive background in journalism and more than 10 years of media experience. She was previously a reporter and anchor for WGME-TV of Portland.
• Timmi Paulson joined Preti Flaherty’s Real Estate Law Group as an associate in the firm’s Portland office. Paulson of Portland previously practiced with Armstrong Teasdale LLP in St. Louis.
• Shireen Shahawy, Erich Pobatschnig and Betty Turina were hired at Vreeland Marketing & Design in Yarmouth.
Shahawy joined the agency as an account executive. She has more than 20 years of experience in marketing communications, media, community relations and broadcast production.
Pobatschnig joined Vreeland as a digital and social media manager. He has experience in the international market — delivering creative content and multimedia production for major global travel brands.
Turina was named office coordinator. She formerly worked for Wang Laboratories, Unum and Greely Middle School.
• Susan Lidstone and Layla Billings joined Harbor Family Services’ Psychiatric Care and Medication Management program.
Lidstone has lived and worked in the Knox County area for over 20 years. She will be seeing adult patients in Northport and Rockport.
Billings previously worked in the Portland area, and will see children in both Northport and Rockport offices.
• Carolyn Knights, Winslow Pillsbury, Kathleen Snyder, Steve Pearson and Matt Dibiase were all hired at ecomaine, a nonprofit municipally owned recycling and waste-to-energy organization.
Knights is a human resources accountant; Pillsbury is a relief operator; Snyder is an accounting assistant; Pearson is a truck driver and Matt Dibiase is an equipment operator.
• David Walker has rejoined Rudman Winchell, Counselors at Law in Bangor. Walker is now a member of the firm’s litigation practice area. He served as an associate at Rudman Winchell from 2007 to 2011. He worked briefly at Friedman Gaythwaite Wolf & Leavitt in Portland.
• Kerry Hoey was named executive director of the Maine Sports Commission. Hoey has more than eight years of communications and public relations experience. Hoey previously served as director for the Kosciuszko Community Center.
• Barbara Higgins joined Saint Joseph’s College as chairperson of the nursing department. She lives in Holden and was previously a professor and dean at the College of Health and Education at Husson University.
• Brian Jacobs was hired as a site superintendent at Landry/French Construction. Jacobs was most recently a project superintendent with Wright-Ryan Construction for five years.
• Mary Regan joined Maine People’s Alliance as field canvass director for Portland. Regan of Portland has served as coordinator of volunteers on several campaigns in Maine.
PROMOTIONS
• Mitch Feldman was promoted at Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance Company to regional director for Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Feldman has worked for Lincoln Heritage for more than 10 years.
• Gail Lind of Standish was named senior vice president of Clark Insurance. Lind has worked for the insurance agency for 25 years, beginning as a personal insurance agent.
• Ryan Lilly was named director of the VA Maine Healthcare System. Lilly joined the VA more than 13 years ago. Since 2006, he has served as the associate medical center director/chief operating officer, VA Maine Healthcare System, Augusta.
• Holly Ferguson, Samantha Pedersen and Jason Cote were promoted at Albin, Randall & Bennett, a certified public accounting firm based in Portland.
Ferguson of Yarmouth was named as a principal in the firm. Pedersen and Cote were named managers. They both live in Lewiston.
• Marie Parker and Rob Wilkes were named general managers of Downeast Energy offices.
Parker of Kennebunk will head the Windham office. She has been with the company for 22 years and was most recently the office manager in the Kennebunk office.
Wilkes of Durham will head the Kennebunk office. He has been with the company for 15 years and was most recently the general manager in Windham.
AWARDS and RECOGNITIONS
• Harriet Cummings has been named Realtor of the Year by the Androscoggin Valley Board of Realtors. Cummings has been associated with Fontaine Family — The Real Estate Leader for more than two years.
• Elizabeth Manchester recently received a distinguished service award from the Maine School Superintendents Association. Manchester was recognized for “her tireless work in promoting digital learning in the classroom.” She is the former executive director for the Maine International Center for Digital Learning and currently serves as its president. She previously worked in the state Department of Education on its one-to-one laptop program.
• Drew Anderson, a director and managing partner of Murray, Plumb & Murray, was selected for inclusion in the Chambers 2012 USA Guide for real estate law in Maine. Anderson of Portland joined the firm in 1990.
• Tracy OClair, marketing consultant and owner of TOCmedia, was selected as authorized local expert by Constant Contact Inc.
BOARD APPOINTMENTS
• Nicholas Livesay, a member of Pierce Atwood’s environmental and land use practice group, was appointed director of Maine’s Land Use Regulation Commission, which will soon become the Maine Land Use Planning Commission. Livesay has been a member of the firm’s Environmental and Land Use Practice Group for more than eight years.
• R. Todd Walker, agency owner for Farm Family Insurance in Scarborough, was elected to the Youth and Family Outreach board of directors.
