I am writing in support of Tom Tyler’s election on Nov. 6 to represent the people of Maine House District 110 (parts of Windham and Gray). I want someone representing us who understands small business and how it is an instrument of job growth. Tom is a business owner. He understands that government needs to “get out of the way” and let the spirit of capitalism build the economy as it has in the past. He also has worked in a small business as an employee and knows that perspective.
Government entities seem to have lost an understanding of the “budget concept” that my husband Glenn and I (and most of you) have lived under for the last 45 years: “If you don’t have the money, you don’t buy something!” Government spending is out of control at every level, and Tom Tyler understands that and wants to do something about it. I don’t know about others, but I resent knowing that every hour of my paycheck from January to May is sent to a government agency to be spent the way the government sees fit – often in a wasteful manner! Tom Tyler is concerned about our hard-earned tax dollars and plans to see that they are used more wisely.
The welfare system in Maine has been out of control for some time – so much so that money for some of the genuinely disabled people that I have worked with over the last 15 years are being deprived of funds. Tom is concerned about fixing the inequities and the abuses in the welfare system in Maine. There will always be truly, honestly needy people who need a “hand up.” Tom will help the Maine Legislature bring Maine welfare programs to a responsible and sustainable level.
Tom Tyler graduated from Windham High School; married his high-school sweetheart 44 years ago; is a father and grandfather and a small business owner here. He is an enthusiastic and tireless worker. He is also fiscally conservative. He cares about Windham and Maine and is dedicated to serving the people of his native town and state.
If you will not be able to get to the polls to vote on Nov. 6, please call the town office (892-2511) and ask for an absentee ballot! If you prefer to vote in person, remember to mark your calendar for Nov. 6. I hope if you’re in District 110, you will join me in casting your vote for Tom Tyler.
