Police have arrested a local nurse in connection with a jewelry theft from a client’s home.

Stephanie A. Walker, of Phippsburg was arrested on a warrant at the police station Tuesday. The warrant, which was the result of an investigation that began in July, charged her with theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and receiving stolen property, both felonies.

On July 24, Bath police took a theft report from a Bath resident who said thousands of dollars of jewelry had been taken from the residence over a period of time. A family member in the home was receiving home nursing care from a company that employed Walker, police said.

Detective Sgt. Robert Savary learned that some of the stolen jewelry was sold to a local gold and silver exchange company. The investigation revealed that Walker sold jewelry that was from the home, where she had been working as a nurse, police said.

Walker was released on unsecured bond with bail conditions that she is not to have contact with the victim. She is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. at the West Bath District Court. Each charge carries maximum penalties of up to five years of imprisonment and a $5,000 fine.
