FREEPORT — The fifth annual Betty ReeZ WhoopieZ 5K Cross Country Trail Run is scheduled to be held on Oct. 8, beginning at 9 a.m.

The run supports the Freeport Running Boosters Club, which supports youth running the tri-town area. All proceeds will go directly to support cross country, indoor track and outdoor track teams in the Freeport area.

This family friendly 5K is for runners of all levels and walkers. The course is at the Pownal Road Field, and winds through the fall foliage.

All participants will receive a whoopie pie, and the first 150 registered runners get a T-shirt. The top male and female finisher receives a $100 prize.

The entry fee is $17 if paid before Oct. 8. Raceday registration is $20.
