‘Armed and dangerous’ stabbing suspect sought
Police are looking for an Auburn man suspected of stabbing a Brunswick woman multiple times.
Police said Jamie Mondragon, 31, of Auburn, is considered to be armed and dangerous.
Officials were called about 2 a.m. Sunday to an apartment in Brunswick, where they found a 25-year-old woman suffering from several non-life-threatening stab wounds. She was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where police said she was in stable condition Sunday.
Authorities said three children were inside the apartment at the time of the attack.

Some crimes in Bangor can now be reported via Web
The Bangor Police Department is taking to the Web to take crime reports from the public.
The department says its new reporting system will allow people to file reports for minor thefts, car break-ins, vandalism, lost property and harassing phone calls at their own convenience over the Internet.
People can file online crime reports if there’s no evidence to be collected, there are no suspects and the crime happened in Bangor.
Officials said the reports will be reviewed by police and given the same investigation and analysis as reports filed in person.

Jenna Bush Hager to give keynote speech at UNE
The daughter of former President George W. Bush will give the keynote speech at an upcoming event at the University of New England.
Jenna Bush Hager will deliver the school’s 2012 George and Barbara Bush Distinguished Lecture on Oct. 8. Hager is the daughter of George W. and Laura Bush, and the granddaughter of George H.W. and Barbara Bush.
University officials said Hager’s lecture topic is “The Power of Compassion and How it Can Change Lives.” The lecture is free and open to the public.
Hager is now a contributing correspondent for NBC News.

New England janitors union holds vigil over contract
A union representing 14,000 New England janitors who may be going on strike held a candlelight vigil and march in Boston Sunday.
Several hundred janitors attended the evening vigil at LoPresti Park in East Boston and a procession to the Most Holy Redeemer Church. Meanwhile, negotiations continued hours before the contract for Local 615 of the Service Employees International Union was to expire at midnight Sunday. A strike could begin Monday, union officials said.
Janitors complain that employers offer them as few as 18 hours a week, which prevents them from getting health insurance. The local represents janitors in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire in talks with the Maintenance Contractors of New England.

Bonnie and Clyde artifacts bring high prices at auction
Two guns in the possession of notorious gangsters Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow when they were killed in a hail of gunfire sold at a New Hampshire auction Sunday for more than half a million dollars.
The guns were two of 134 artifacts of notorious criminals that sold for a total of $1.1 million. Parker’s .38-caliber Detective Special sold for $264,000, said Bobby Livingston of RR Auction in Amherst, N.H. Barrow’s 1911 Colt .45-caliber automatic sold for $240,000 to the same bidder.
