TOPSHAM — John Lloyd Thompson, 92, formerly of Harpswell, died Sept. 22 at The Highlands.

He was born in Brunswick on Nov. 16, 1919, to John E. and Edith McCausland Thompson.

He graduated from Brunswick High School and married Gladys Junia Sissel in Muscatine, Iowa. She died Aug. 16, 1996.

Thompson served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945.

He worked as a carpenter in his early years, and also in the civil service of the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1973. He opened his own real estate office in Harpswell in 1972, which he ran until 1986. Thompson also owned the airstrip in Harpswell Center with a partner, Beverly Farr.

Besides his wife, Thompson is predeceased by a sister, Maxine Fournier.

Surviving are two nieces, Carol Crance, of Nevada, and Janice Williams, of Montoursville, Pa.

A funeral was held Sept. 28 at the Brackett Funeral Home in Brunswick, which the Rev. Ron McLaughlin officiated. Interment occured at Hillcrest Cemetery in Harpswell.
