LISBON FALLS — Molly Nicholson scored two secondhalf goals to carry the Lisbon High School field hockey team to a 2-0 Mountain Valley Conference victory over St. Dom’s on Monday.

The Greyhounds completed the regular season with a 13-0- 1 mark and currently sit in second place in the Western Maine Class C Heal Point Standings.

Lisbon will play in the MVC Championship game on Thursday, according to coach Julie Wescott, against Winthrop at Dirigo High School in Dixfield. Game-time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Scoreless at the half, Nicholson converted a pass from Sarah Craig. She slipped a shot past St. Dom’s (3-10-1) goaltender Amanda Cortellino (14 saves) for the gamewinning goal.

Lisbon outshot the Saints 21-1 and held a 9-4 penalty corner advantage.

Stevie Charest earned the win in goal with one save.

Boys soccer

At Topsham on Friday, Will Hirnak scored two goals and assisted on a third as Mt. Ararat rolled to a 6-0 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory over Oxford Hills.

The hot Eagles, winners of eight straight, are scheduled to play at rival Brunswick today at 3:30 p.m. Mt. Ararat is 9-1-1 and in second place in the Eastern Maine Class A Heal Point Standings, just ahead of the third place Dragons, who enter today’s contest with a 7-2-2 mark and on a 5-0- 1 streak.

Ben Volk and Eric Bowie assisted on Hirnak’s two firsthalf goals, and Hirnak set up Robbie Small early in the second half for a 3-0 Eagles’ lead. Nathan Santeramo, Small and Justin Pierce added a goal each down the stretch, with Griffin Stockford picking up an assist.

In goal, Gabe Pelletier, Jon Roux and Mason Griffin combined on three saves.

Oxford Hills (2-10) netminder Jake Beauchesne had nine stops.
