NEW YORK – One of the few couples from ABC’s “The Bachelor” franchise to get married is now expecting their first child. Jason and Molly Malaney Mesnick’s baby is due in March.

People.com first reported the news. Jason Mesnick, 36, confirmed the report on Twitter, saying, “WAHOOOOOOOO!!! Molly is going to be a MOM and TY a BIG BROTHER!” Mesnick’s son Ty is from a previous marriage.

Molly Mesnick, 28, also took to Twitter, saying they were excited “about the pint-size peanut on the way.”

The couple met on the 13th season of “The Bachelor.” Molly was actually the runner-up to the winner, Melissa Rycroft. Mesnick proposed to Rycroft but he broke up with her later, saying he still had feelings for Molly. The two married in February 2010.

Morning show host returns home after transplant

NEW YORK – ABC’s Robin Roberts has come home from the hospital three weeks after undergoing a bone marrow transplant.

After thanking her doctors and nurses and singing “Amen,” the “Good Morning America” host began the next stage of recovery from MDS, a blood and bone marrow disease. Her sister donated the bone marrow.

Roberts’ doctor said it still will take time for her to gather strength and build up her immune system. “Good Morning America” aired a story about Wednesday’s homecoming.

Actress Spencer to write children’s mystery books

NEW YORK – Oscar winner Octavia Spencer is looking to make some magic in the book world.

The actress best known for “The Help” has a deal with Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers to write a pair of detective novels for middle school students. The first book, “Randi Rhodes, Ninja Detective: The Case of the Time-Capsule Bandit,” will come out next fall.

Spencer said in a statement that she had been inspired by such mystery series as Nancy Drew and Encyclopedia Brown and hoped to give kids the same “sense of magic.”

Man arrested on Nelly’s bus over pot, gun

SIERRA BLANCA, Texas – Authorities say they found drugs and a gun on rapper Nelly’s tour bus at a West Texas border checkpoint where several celebrities have been arrested.

Hudspeth County sheriff’s officials said an initial search Wednesday night turned up small amounts of marijuana and heroin and a loaded gun. Authorities say a second search revealed a duffel bag with about 10 pounds of pot.

Officials say one of the occupants was arrested after admitting the drugs and gun belonged to him. Nelly and five others were released.

Previous drug-related arrests of celebrities at the checkpoint near Sierra Blanca included Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Fiona Apple and Armand Hammer.

A publicist for Nelly could not be reached for comment.
