LISBON

Lisbon police have identified and are closing in on a man they say robbed a local convenience store armed with a knife Thursday.

Police responded to Miller’s Variety store on Route 196 at approximately 7:30 p.m. They said clerks were approached by a man who produced a knife and demanded money.

Detective William Tapley said this afternoon police have identified 21-year-old Brooks Noddin and have a warrant out for his arrest for Class A robbery.

Following the robbery, the suspect was described as a man in his 20s, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall, of average build with dark hair in braided dreadlocks, a thin beard, and wearing a gray pullover.

He made off with money and cigarettes in a white hatchback-style vehicle police say could be a Toyota Matrix or Ford Focus with black wheels. No one was injured.

Tapley confirmed today it was a white 2007 Toyota Matrix that Noddin drove away in. A car fitting this description was stolen from a residence in Monmouth Thursday morning around 9 a.m. Noddin was a suspect in that theft, which Tapley said led police to quickly link him to the robbery at Miller’s Variety.

Noddin, a transient, is believed to be in the Lisbon, Lewiston or Monmouth area. He has a nose piercing on his left nostril and a small dollar sign tattoo under his left eye. Anyone who sees him should avoid approaching or trying to apprehend him; call your local police. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information should contact Detective William Tapley at the Lisbon Police Department, 353-2500.
