SACO — Donald Goodrich scored three touchdowns and rushed for 198 yards as Cheverus beat Thornton Academy 28-14 to tie the Class A football record for consecutive wins at 31 Saturday afternoon.
Linebacker Sam Cross put the finishing touches on the victory by scoring on an interception with just under five minutes remaining to cap the scoring.
The Stags (7-0) equaled South Portland’s mark of 31 straight, which was coached by current
Cheverus coach John Wolfgram, from 1995-97. Cheverus will go for the all-time record on Saturday against Deering.
Thornton fell to 6-1.
