NEW FACES

• John Norton was named vice president for institutional advancement at the University of New England. Norton, of Brunswick, will lead UNE’s fundraising, alumni relations, major gifts and planned giving efforts. He most recently served as assistant vice president for advancement at Pomona College.

Matthew Cobb joined Rudman Winchell, Counselors at Law in Bangor as an associate.

Cobb interned at the Maine Department of Transportation and in the Appellate Division of the U.S.  Attorney’s Office in Portland.

Kate O’Halloran joined the staff at Carrabassett Valley Academy as director of development and alumni connections. O’Halloran of Fairfield will be responsible for leading a strategy for the school’s development efforts. She will also oversee the completion of the school’s current $7 million Phase II New Campus Capital Campaign to fund construction of a multi-use facility and an all-new academic center.

Stephen Wilkins joined PC Construction as a project manager on the $39 million, 300,000- square-foot additions and renovations project at South Portland High School. Wilkins has more than 30 years of experience constructing buildings, primarily in the commercial, education and manufacturing markets.

Angela Duran joined the Michelle Raber State Farm Insurance Agency as an account representative. Duran, of Gorham, has seven years of experience in the industry. She most recently worked for AAA in Portland.

Saint Joseph’s College of Maine recently added the following people to its staff:

Robert Hand was named executive director of marketing and communications at Saint Joseph’s College. Hand, of York, was previously director of marketing at Sovereign Bank in Boston.

Amy Meltzer Rady was named associate professor of education in the school’s department of sport and exercise science. Rady, of Portland, previously taught in the department of kinesiology at William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J.

Mark Hibben was appointed as an assistant professor of political science. Hibben, of South Portland, has been an instructor at the University of Maine for the last four years.

Christopher Sullivan joined the faculty with a joint appointment in fine art and communications. Sullivan of Portland was previously director of exhibits and operations at the Children’s Museum and Theatre of Maine in Portland.

Doug Marks was hired as the senior media buyer for Dr. Newton’s Naturals’ internal media agency. Marks, of South Paris, has more than eight years of direct response media buying experience and over 20 years of combined advertising experience. He was most recently with Website Forge LLC.

PROMOTIONS

Jack Packhem was named vice president of surgical services at Maine Medical Center.

Packhem served as program manager for surgical services for eight years and plays a key role in the supply chain work at MMC and MaineHealth.

SeniorsPlus, the area agency on aging in Lewiston, promoted the following staff in its EIM division:

Gretchen Zeh-Higgins was named EIM director. She was previously EIM manager.

Julie Daniels was named care coordination manager. She has 13 years of long-term care experience.

Melissa Cunniff was named care management supervisor. She has 10 years of nursing experience.

Gail Lind was named senior vice president of Clark Insurance. Lind of Standish has worked for the employee-owned insurance agency for 25 years. She currently serves as agency manager.

AWARDS and RECOGNITIONS

Mary Ann Hayes, executive director of Maine Rural Partners, received the Ron Shaffer Award for Excellence in Collaborative Leadership. Partners for Rural America conferred its highest honor on Hayes for the diverse collaborative initiatives created under her leadership at Maine Rural Partners.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

David Jacobs, development manager at Portland Public Library and former South Portland city councilor, was named president of the board of directors for the Mad Horse Theatre Company.

Other recently-elected officers include: Laurie Hasty as vice president; Stephen Gaal as treasurer; and Sally Clark Druchniak, as secretary.

Other recently elected members to the board of directors are Tami Kennedy, director of communications for Shipyard Brewing Co.; Ben McCormack, who runs the North American division for Vermilion Software; and Barbara Cariddi, the new media news producer at Maine Public Broadcasting Network.
