To the Editor:
I am writing in support of Jennifer DeChant for state representative in House District 62 which represents most of Bath.
She has been endorsed by the AFL-CIO and BIW’s Local 6, Equality Maine, Maine Education Association and The Sportman’s Alliance of Maine. An endorsement is not monetary but a vote of confidence in the candidate. It means she is aligned with their missions and membership.
Most importantly it means she understands the complexity of the issues so many Mainers face, whether it is job security, benefits, civil rights, conservation of our natural resources or the right to hunt and fish.
Mainers have a diverse set of needs that must be met in this difficult economy and Jennifer has the experience and skill to work for everyone in her district.
She will represent us well and collaborate with her peers on both sides of the aisle. Vote DeChant on Nov. 6.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
