BRUNSWICK — Lauriette Tetreault Caron, age 88, of River Road died Tuesday October 16th at her home surrounded by her family and caregiver. She was born in Brunswick June 15, 1924, the daughter of Antoine and Aldea Duval Tetreault. She graduated from St John’s Catholic School. On June 28, 1947 she married Lawrence Bernard Caron.

Mrs. Caron worked at Verney Mill from 1939 until her marriage. Mrs. Caron was a loving, devoted stay-athome Mom raising 3 daughters. When her children were grown she returned to work at Health-Tex in the Cutting Room. She worked there for 20 years retiring in 1987.

After retirement she and her husband, Larry, traveled with their friends on several Maine Line bus tours. For several years they wintered in Punta Gorda, Florida until advancing age and illnesses set in. They started each Florida winter stay by spending the Christmas holidays with their daughter, Evelyn and family in Navarre.

Mrs. Caron stayed busy in her retirement years. She enjoyed decorating her home and keeping her flower gardens blooming. Her daughter, Sue helped her with getting just the right flowers for her gardens. To stay in shape she went on walks and won ribbons in walking competitions at the Maine Senior Games. She line danced and learned how to tap dance. She enjoyed candlepin bowling and won several awards during her bowling years. She was asked to give ten pin bowling a try and developed an even greater passion for it. She loved going to practice and looked forward to bowling in her leagues each week.

Mrs. Caron loved animals and feeding the birds that came to her yard. She was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan and enjoyed playing Parcheesi.

Mrs. Caron is a life long communicant of St John the Baptist Church. She is a 50 year member of Brunswick’s Father Remy Circle of the Daughters of Isabella. She served as an officer and volunteered on several committees. She traveled throughout the State of Maine as part of Father Remy’s Degree Team serving proudly as Second Guide. She enjoyed attending State Conventions and went to one International Convention held in Washington, DC, with her daughter Lorraine.

Dementia and ministrokes debilitated Mrs. Caron during the last few years of her life. The diseases were never able to stop her from lighting up a room with her beautiful smile. She was a remarkable woman who showed all she met how to handle the challenges of aging with dignity and grace.

She is predeceased by her parents, two brothers George and Andre, and two daughters who she miscarried.

Surviving is her husband of 65 years, daughter Lorraine of Brunswick, daughter Suzanne Berry and her husband Chris of New Jersey, daughter Evelyn Keating and her husband Dennis of Florida and two grandsons Andrew J. Keating of Washington and SA Adam J. Keating serving in the US Navy stationed in California, a sister in-law Lorraine Gamache Tetreault of Massachusetts, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 22nd from 6-8PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 23rd at 11 AM at St. John’s the Baptist Church Pleasant St. Brunswick. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Brunswick. Interment will be at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
