ORONO – Kristen Baker scored the tying goal midway through the first half and Sarah Darmanin added the winning goal with 7:07 left in regulation as sixth-seeded Stony Brook advanced to the America East women’s soccer championship game with a 2-1 win Sunday over second-seeded Maine.

Maine (7-7-3) opened the scoring 45 seconds into the game when Nikki Misener dribbled the ball down the end line and passed to Jordan Pellerin, who put a shot over the outstretched hand of the Stony Brook keeper.

Megan Price-Leibenzeder finished with two saves for the Black Bears. Ashley Castanio stopped eight shots for Stony Brook (11-6-3), which will play for the title next Sunday at Hartford.

ST. JOSEPH’S (CT) 2, ST. JOSEPH’S 0: Jaci Lorenzen made eight saves for the eighth-seeded Monks (8-5-4) in a loss to the top-seeded Blue Jays (14-2-1) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference quarterfinal at West Hartford, Conn.

SOUTHERN MAINE C.C. 93, DALHOUSIE 46: Nate Dow scored five of his 15 points during a 10-0 run midway through the first half as the Seawolves (2-0) cruised to a win over Dalhousie (0-2) at the Can-Am Tournament in Auburn.

Alex Hartford added 10 points and seven rebounds, and Jose Nouchanthavong finished with 10 points and five assists.

BCS STANDINGS: Notre Dame became the latest team to move past Oregon in the BCS standings, taking third place behind Alabama and Kansas State. The Ducks remained fourth.

Florida fell out of the top five with a 17-9 loss to Georgia, helping to set the field in the race for the BCS title game with a month to go in the regular season.

Alabama is locked in at No. 1, and — if the Crimson Tide keep winning — will play for a third championship in four years. The Wildcats (.9400), Fighting Irish (.9147) and Ducks (.9136) need to remain unbeaten and keep an eye on each other.

The computers ratings are still holding the Ducks back because their strength of schedule lags behind the other contenders.

Kansas State is third in each poll and Notre Dame is fourth. But according to the computers, the Wildcats and Fighting Irish are tied for first.

Oregon’s upcoming schedule could help solve the Ducks’ problem. Oregon plays three opponents in the BCS top 25 — USC, Stanford and Oregon State — in its last four games. The Pac-12 title game, if the Ducks get there, should provide another quality opponent.

Notre Dame, with four games left, faces only one more team with a winning record — USC. Kansas State has three winning teams in its four remaining opponents, though only No. 25 Texas is in the BCS top 25.

MARYLAND: Caleb Rowe sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament in Saturday’s 20-17 loss to Boston College, making him the fourth Terrapins quarterback to suffer a season-ending injury this fall.

C.J. Brown tore an ACL in August and was replaced by Perry Hills, who tore an ACL against North Carolina State on Oct. 20. Devin Burns broke his foot in that game.

Either converted linebacker Shawn Petty or converted tight end Brian McMahon will start at quarterback for Maryland (4-4, 2-2 ACC) on Saturday against Georgia Tech.
