The South Portland Big Red junior varsity won the Maine Youth Football League State Championship on Oct. 28, defeating Gray-New Gloucester 20-6 at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

The team comprises fourth- and fifth-graders.

 

Zibby Puleio of Wells scored his first hole-in-one when he aced the 135-yard 17th hole at Point Sebago Golf Course with a 7-iron.

His playing partners were Frank Libby, Jack Leclair and Ken Lefebvre.

 

Bob Barber aced the eighth hole at Biddeford-Saco Country Club on Nov. 3. Barber used an 8-iron for the 150-yard shot.

His playing partners were Ken Cota, Dan Cyr and Mark Friedman.
