In the first round of an annual event, the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife harvested eggs from landlocked salmon Wednesday at the Raymond Fish Trap on Mill Street in Raymond.

Staff at the department’s Casco Fish Hatchery have been catching the breeding fish from Sebago Lake since October. The harvested eggs will be fertilized, incubated and raised, after which the young fish will be released into Sebago Lake Stream. Officials say they plan a second “egg take” next week.
