The Rev. Mary Beth Caffey was recently installed as the 43rd pastor of the historic First Baptist Church of Paris Hill, which was established in 1791. The Rev. Caffey is a Texas native who graduated from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, in 1979 and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1981. She has served in several positions in Texas and New England and moved to Auburn in 1984. In addition to serving as the pastor of the church, the Rev. Caffey owns Caffey Trading and is involved with Internet marketing and is also a representative of Visalus weight loss and fitness products.

Alpha and Omega Thrift Shop, a ministry that supports missions locally and around the world, is holding a sale through Christmas at its current location at the Norway-Paris Solid Waste facility, 39 Brown St., Norway. The thrift shop will soon move to a much larger location at 527 Park St., South Paris, and is raising funds to help renovate a garage at the new site.
