SACO — Nina J. Jochum, age 78, of High St., passed away on Nov. 30, 2012 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.

She was born in South Portland, Maine on April 8, 1934, daughter of the late J. Mervin and Vera (Gordon) Hanna.

After graduating from high school, Nina went on to work as a bookkeeper while she raised her family.

Nina was an organizer for the Fresh Air Fund, which helped inner city children and was an ombudsman at the Groton Naval Shipyard for several years.

She will always be remembered for her love of family and the enjoyment she received from hosting parties and entertaining.

Nina is survived by her three children, formerly of Freeport — Steven White of Belmont, NC, Scott White of Zephyrhills, FL, and Karen Beasley of Saco/Port St.Lucie, FL; grandchildren — (Steve’s children) Amber Vera-May White and Forest Dustin White, (Scott’s children) Ani White, Nia Symone White, and Scott’s step-daughter C.Sandra Cifuentes, and (Karen’s children) Ami Beasley-Jobson and Tera Thomas; two great grandchildren — Jake and Ava, and dear friends — Edward Bonney and Marilyn LaJoie.

A celebration of Nina’s life will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2013, on her namesake day, from 1-4 PM at Lindbergh’s Landing, on the Old Orchard Beach Pier.
