
The Mt. Ararat seventh-graders outdueled the Huskies 34-30.
The game wasn’t decided until the last minute when a steal and a hoop by Mt. Ararat sealed the victory. Mt. Ararat led 17-13 at the half by holding the Huskies scoreless in the second quarter. Both teams traded baskets in the second half. Mt. Ararat led by as many as six points in the third.
Ryan Mello paced Mt. Ararat with 17 points and a strong floor game. Tanner Greenleaf chipped in with seven points.
Brunswick was led by Alex Small and Kyle Hanson, who netted 12 and nine points, respectively.

The Huskies were led by Caleb Cost and his doubledouble: 16 points and 16 rebounds. Tirese Collins made his first Brunswick appearance a stellar one with 15 points, seven assists and four steals. Josh Dorr was strong on both ends of the floor with 11 points, five rebounds and three steals. Corbin Teel and Jaznel Burns combined for 12 rebounds, many of them which sparked the Huskies’ second-half rally.
Mt. Ararat led 11-9 after one quarter, but the Huskies went up 22-20 at the half and 35-32 after three periods.

Also, Cole Guerin played aggressive defense and came away with several steals and Jake Steinman pulled down some big rebounds.
The Huskies will be back in action Monday at Oak Hill, while the Eagles are set to host Bath.
