The Eagles outshot the Raiders 32-22 and were up against a hot goalie.

“Anyone who knows hockey knows it’s tough to beat a goalie with a hot hand,” said Mt. Ararat coach Ron Hutchins. “The girls played well. In order to have won last night, we’d had to have had a shutout.”

Mt. Ararat’s lone goal came from a Claire Briggs slap shot from the point.

In goal for the Eagles was sophomore and newcomer Alison Nolan. “This is Nolan’s first time on skates and all she’s ever seen of hockey is occasional sports highlights on TV,” said Hutchins. “She’s determined to learn the position and improvement is seen every day. If it was easy, everyone would want to be a goalie. You don’t learn this position over night and it is a skill that takes years to develop. We love her just for trying.”
