FAIRFIELD — Lawrence High School used a 24-1 run in the first half to distance itself from Brunswick in freshmen girls basketball action on Tuesday for a 53-23 victory.
With the score tied 5-5 midway through the opening quarter, the Bulldogs closed out the frame with a 15-5 advantage and continued the surge to close out the half with a lead of 29-6.
Brunswick received a strong two-way performance from Leah Dewey, who had eight points to go along with 10 rebounds and a standout defensive effort. Sydney Kay added seven points for the Dragon Black squad, and Jenna Bailey played well defensively for Brunswick as well.
