Scarborough students host holiday fundraising events

SCARBOROUGH — On Friday, Dec. 21, Scarborough High School will hold two fundraising events. At 10 a.m., the school chorus holds a holiday concert to raise funds for a trip to New York City. Concert donations are pay-what-you-like. At 11 a.m., the school’s Empty Bowl Project sponsors a soup lunch, with proceeds to benefit the Preble Street Resource Center. Soup will cost $3-$5 a bowl. Students in the school’s alternative education program have made decorative bowls for the project, which raises money and awareness to help fight hunger. Guests at the lunch may keep the handmade bowls as a reminder of the meal’s purpose.
