TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat High School boys basketball team outscored Skowhegan 14-5 in the fourth quarter for a 44-35 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory on Tuesday.
The Eagles led 11-8 and 26- 18 at the first two quarter breaks, but the 1-3 Indians outscored Mt. Ararat (3-1 and slated to host Brunswick on Friday) 12-4 to pull into a 30-30 deadlock.
Mason Griffin had a gamehigh 13 points and eight rebounds for Mt. Ararat, while Alex Lapierre chipped in eight points. Tyler Roberts had three steals in the fourth quarter and induced four Skowhegan charges.

Blake Gordon popped for 24 points and Ryan Black added 17 as the host Dragons ended a two-game slide in KVAC play at Brunswick.
The Dragons jumped out quickly, taking a 27-9 advantage in the opening eight minutes. Brunswick held a 48-22 advantage at the half and a 65-40 lead through three quarters.
Alex Bandouveres chipped in 10 points for the victors, who improved to 2-2 and visit rival Mt. Ararat on Friday.

Jake Moody scored 20 points, Dylan Stevens 17 and Chris Carney 16 as the host Warriors (4-1) ran past Freeport in Western Maine Conference play.
Wells led 28-14 after a quarter, 46-27 at the half and 58-34 through three quarters.
“They are really quick, with three guards that are lightning fast,” said Freeport (1-3) coach Matt Cook, whose Falcons visit York on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Jack Davenport paced Freeport with 11 points and a like number of rebounds. Chandler Birmingham chipped in eight points, Connor Dietrich seven, and Landon Easler dished out five assists.
The Falcons were nine of 17 from the foul line, while Wells missed its three chances at the charity stripe.

The host Eagles outscored Morse 18-10 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a lowscoring KVAC Class B victory at Newcastle.
Lincoln Academy posted quarter leads of 5-2, 19-6 and 22-20.
Caleb Farrin had a gamehigh 11 points for the victors, while Sawyer Pinkham made nine of 11 foul shots in the final frame.
D’Vaughn Myers paced 1-3 Morse, which visits Leavitt on Thursday, with 10 points.
