FREEPORT – Chloe Smedley scored six points and Anne Graziano sank a 3-pointer during a 16-8 run in the third quarter as York rallied for a 55-52 win over Freeport in a Western Maine Conference girls’ basketball game Thursday night.

York (6-0), which trailed 32-28 at halftime, secured the win only when Vanessa Lee’s 3-pointer at the buzzer rimmed the basket before falling out.

Emily Campbell led York with 16 points. Smedley scored 14, and Ruby Cribby and Shannon Todd each added 10.

Nina Davenport’s 24 points and 10 rebounds powered Freeport (2-3). Aubrey Pennell added 11 points.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 41, WELLS 39: Samantha Wilkins converted all four of her free throws as Gray-New Gloucester (4-1) went 10 for 12 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to hold off the Warriors (2-4) at Wells.

Stephanie Greaton and Maria Valente led GNG with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Sophie Lamb scored 12 for Wells and Alison Furness had 10.

WINDHAM 41, MARSHWOOD 35: Luisa Sbardella scored nine of her 11 points in the fourth quarter as the Eagles (3-2) closed out the game on a 16-2 run against the Hawks (1-4) at South Berwick.

Abby Hyson scored 15 points for Marshwood.

GORHAM 55, BONNY EAGLE 37: Kristin Ross scored 24 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the Rams (2-3) downed the Scots (1-4) at Gorham.

Samantha Maxfield and Shannon Sanborn scored 11 points apiece to lead Bonny Eagle.

SCARBOROUGH 57, PORTLAND 44: Mary Red-mond scored 18 points and Maria Philbrick added 10 to lead the Red Storm (5-0) past the Bulldogs (1-5) at Portland.

Portland was led by Brianna Holdren and Sydney Levesque, who scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.

LEAVITT 65, MORSE 39: Kristen Anderson made six 3-pointers and finished with a 31 points to lead the Hornets (5-0) past the Shipbuilders (2-3) at Bath.

Morse was paced by Signe Ostergaard with 11 points.

GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 41, ISLESBORO 33: Elaine Beech’s seven points led Greater Portland Christian (4-0) to a 12-4 first-quarter lead, and the Lions went on to a win over Islesboro (3-3) at South Portland.

Beech finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds and Clarissa Jones added 13 points and 13 rebounds.


MORSE 39, LEAVITT 37: Matt Munster scored on a backdoor cut off a pass from Kevin McKellar with 1.3 seconds left to lift the Shipbuilders (2-3) over the Hornets (2-3) at Turner.

McKellar finished with 11 points and Munster added 10.

WINDHAM 49, MARSHWOOD 18: Thomas McGowan scored 16 points as the Eagles (2-3) pulled away from the Hawks (1-4) in the second half at Windham.

YORK 70, FREEPORT 19: Zach Leal and Hayden Webster scored six points apiece in the first quarter as the Wildcats (6-0) raced out to a 22-3 lead and cruised to a win over the Falcons (1-4) at York.

Luke Claflin led York with 15 points. Webster and Aaron Todd added 14 points each, and Leal finished with 13.

Freeport was led by Landon Easler with eight points.

ISLESBORO 56, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 34: Forrest Boucher scored 19 points to power the Eagles (1-5) to a victory over the Lions (0-4) in South Portland.

David Duval tallied 12 points for the Lions.


CAPE ELIZABETH/WAYNFLETE 3, YORK 3: Kathryn Clark and Madeline Ciraldo scored less than two minutes apart midway through the third period as Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete (3-2-2) rallied to tie the Wildcats (5-1-1) at Portland Ice Arena.

The Wildcats took a 3-1 lead on goals by Rachel Yorke and Brynn Vessey in the first 2:08 of the second period.

SCARBOROUGH 6, PORTLAND/DEERING 0: Alyssa Hulst scored four goals to lead the Red Storm (7-0) to a win over Portland/Deering (1-6-1) at Portland Ice Arena.


CHEVERUS 13, SOUTH PORTLAND 0: Liam Fitzpatrick scored three goals and assisted on two others as the Stags (4-0) dominated the Red Riots (0-4) at Portland Ice Arena.
