PHIPPSBURG — Donald I. Wallace, 90, passed away on December 31, 2012. He was born January 26, 1922 in Small Point, the son of the late Irving J. Wallace and Julia I. Wallace.

Don serviced in the United States Army from 1940 – 1944 during World War II. He was a member of the 83rd Airborn Infantry, and received a purple heart during the Battle of the Buldge. Following his time in the service, Don married Marilyn Todd Wallace whom he was married to for 35 years, and had four children. Marilyn passed away in 1981.

Don loved the open sea and spent much of his life Dragging and Lobstering and later was the caretaker of Morse Mt, and Small Point.

Don was predeceased by his son Daniel Wallace.

He leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Doris Ledamun Wallace of Phippsburg; his four children, Donna Therriault and her husband Roger, Bruce Wallace, Janice Lander and her husband John and Priscilla Birmingham and her husband Michael; 7 grandchildren, David Therriault, Michael Therriault, Nathaniel Wallace, Megan Lander, Jason Lander, Sarah Birmingham and Sean Birmingham; and 2 great-grandchildren Benjamin and Katherine.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 5th from 1:00 – 3:00pm at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High Street, Bath. A Funeral Service will be held at the Small Point Church in Phippsburg in the springtime with a time to be announced.
