BRUNSWICK — Shirley B. Thivierge, 86, died January 1, 2013 in Brunswick, ME. after a period of declining health. She was born September 8, 1926 in Amesbury, MA., daughter of the late Harry H. and Alice S. (Sibley) Bates.

Shirley grew up in Amesbury and was a graduate of Amesbury High School, Class of 1943. She worked in banking for most of her working life, initially at Powow River National Bank in Amesbury and later at First & Ocean National Bank in Newburyport. Shirley also worked as a secretary for Hatter’s Union in Amesbury for several years.

She was very active in numerous organizations. As a proud descendant of Richard Warren on the Mayflower, Shirley became a member of the NH Mayflower Society, she was a member of DAR, the Exeter Women’s Club, Exeter Hospital Volunteers, a devoted member of Christ Episcopal Church in Exeter, the Christ Church Altar Guild, and was a Lay reader at the Church.

Shirley was the widow of Raymond J. Thivierge, who died July 28, 1997.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph L and Donna M. Thivierge of Topsham, ME., two granddaughters, T. Catherine Mignone of Kensington, NH and Kirstin L. Kibbe of Somersworth, NH, a great grandson, Keagan Mignone of Kensington, NH, a sister, Jeane Meserve of South Hampton, NH, a niece, Sheryl Hunt of Seabrook, NH, and a nephew, Kevin Meserve of West Newbury, MA.

There are no calling hours.

A private graveside service will be held at the Union Cemetery in Amesbury, MA.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Christ Episcopal Church in Exeter, NH.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Midcoast Senior Health Center, 58 Baribeau Dr., Brunswick, ME. 04011 or the NH Mayflower Society, 31 Logging HIll Rd., Bow, NH 03304.
