OGUNQUIT — The Rev. Richard B. Adams, a retired Anglican priest, died December 30, 2012, at Maine Medical in Portland.
Fr. Adams was born on November 30, 1923 in Alberta Lea, Minnesota, son of the Rev. Harold B. Adams and the former Hildred C. Babcock.
Fr. Adams was educated in Meadville, PA schools and graduated from Central Michigan University in 1947 and Seaburg-Weastern Theological Seminary in Evanston IL in 1950. He was ordained a priest in 1950 and served in IL and VT before settling in Maine where he was the Rector of Grace Church in Bath from 1958-1969. He was also Rector of St. Margaret’s in Bath. Before retiring in 1976 Fr Adams was the Administrative Assistant to the Episcopal Bishop of Maine and the Financial Officer of the Diocese of Maine.
Fr. Adams served during WW2 in the US army from 1943-1945 in Europe.
Fr Adams is survived by 1 nephew, Stephen Adams of Indiana and many loving friends in the Maine area.
A service will be held at St. Georges Church, 407 York St., in York, Maine on Saturday January 12, 2013 at 10 am.
