BRUNSWICK — Carol A. Newton, age 60, died Thursday January 3, 2013 at a local hospital.

She was born in Brunswick August 25, 1952 a daughter to George Elwell and Fernande Fournier. She attended St. John’s School and graduated from Brunswick High School.

For several years she worked in local restaurants and shops. She was most recently employed by L.L. Bean for thirteen years. She enjoyed gambling, especially the slots. Above all else, she was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She was predeceased by six brothers, Dennis Elwell, George Elwell, Kenneth Elwell, Joseph Elwell, Ronald Elwell, and Michael Elwell; a sister, Lisa Elwell.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Edward Newton, Sr.; a son, Paul Edward Newton,

II and his wife Olivia of Cumberland; a daughter, Cheryl Anne Newton of Brunswick; four sisters, Linda Dodson and her husband Ronald of Brunswick, Donna Leeman and her husband Kevin of Topsham, Debbie Washburn and her husband Scott of Brunswick, and Judy White of Topsham; three grandchildren, Eliana, Annabel and Lucia, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held 5-7 pm Friday, January 11th at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street Brunswick. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home 1 PM Saturday January 12th with the Rev. Ron McLaughlin officiating.
